Wolves come alive in the 2nd period
Renfrew Timber Wolves hosted the Shawville Pontiacs in their second last regular season game prior to the playoffs. Shawville took an early lead when Shane Gervais scored assisted by Dylon Wisotski and Tyler Orr at 6:23. Then while short handed Dylon Wisotski broke free on a break away to at 7:41 on Richard Barr. He was assisted by Graham Joran and Jimmy MacMillan. Renfrew closed the gap when Ethan Allard scored at 16:12 with assists going to Jordan Welk and Ryan Lepine. However, on a power play Yann Godin scored with assists going to Shane Gervais and Dylon Wisotski. Each team took 2 of the 4 penalties handed out in the 1st period. Each team had 11 shots apiece at the opponents net. Shawville led after 1st period 3 to 1.
In the 2nd period Renfrew came out flying when Matt Rosebrook scored at 0:47 with an assist going to Trent Bowden. Then Renfrew tied the game up on a power play when Steven Powell scored at 3:47 with assists going to Ethan Allard and Patrick Collins. Shawville regained the lead when Benoit Fabien scored at 9:12 with assists going to Yann Godin and Dave Hobbs. After that it was Renfrew the rest of the period. Ethan Allard tied the game up at 9:53 with an assist going to Tim Riopelle. Jordan Welk widens the gap at 11:13 with assists going to Lucas Gonu and Tim Riopelle. Ethan Allard added his third goal of the night at 12:49 with assists going to Steven Powell and Patrick Collins. Matt Johnston added another at 19:09 with assists going to Jordan Welk and Lucas Gonu. Renfrew took 1 of the 6 penalties handed out this period and were out shot by Shawville 15 to 14. Renfrew led after the 2nd period 7 to 4.
In the 3rd period Wolves widen the gap when Matt Rosebrook scored at 7:21 with assists going to Steven Powell and Michael Deslaurier. Dave Hobbs brought Shawville closer when he scored at 11:58 with an assist going to Shane Gervais. Renfrew on a power play scored when Matt Rosebrook put his third of the night in at 17:34 assisted by Tim Riopelle. Michael Deslaurier added another one on a power play at 18:14 with assists going to Tyler Charbonneau and Scott Forgie. Then with seconds’ left Scott Forgie cap off the scoring at 19:39, assisted by Jesse Valdron and Tyler Charbonneau. Renfrew took 5 of the 16 penalties handed out and out shot Shawville 16 to 12 for a game total of 41 to 38. Renfrew won the game 11 to 5.
Renfrew will visit Shawville on Tuesday then return home for their last regular season home game against Stittsville Royals on Friday February 12, 2010 at 8:00 pm.
